What is AGI Index?
"What is AGI?" It is perhaps the most complex question humanity has ever asked. But paradoxically, asking it forces us to answer a much deeper question: "What does it mean to be human?"
"If I had an hour to solve a problem, I'd spend 55 minutes thinking about the problem and 5 minutes solving it."
For decades, computer scientists have raced through the final 5 minutes, building faster chips and larger models. They treat intelligence as a computational problem to be solved.
But intelligence is not just code. It is the intuition of a mother understanding her crying child. It is the wit of a writer crafting a metaphor. It is the hesitation we feel before making a difficult choice.
This is why the definition of AGI cannot be left solely to engineers in a lab. If AGI is to mirror human intelligence, the reflection must come from all of humanity, not just a select few.

How It Works
The AGI Index is shaped by the world, not by a closed group of experts. Every step is designed to let humanity collectively define — and measure — the next intelligence.
Anyone Can Propose a Question
If you believe a particular ability reflects real intelligence, you can submit it as a question for the AGI Index. No technical background needed — only human experience.
The Community Curates the Index
Every proposed question goes through community voting. A question becomes an official Index question if it receives 50% or more "suitable" votes and at least 10 total votes.
Evaluate Today's Leading AI Systems
For each question, users vote based on current major AI systems (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Llama, etc.). Vote "Achieved" if at least one major AI can do it, "Not Yet" if none can reliably do it today.
Computing the AGI Index
Among official Index questions, if 50% or more votes say "Achieved," that question is classified as Achieved.
